Colors

• Helping children understand the concept of color allows them the ability to construct beautiful and accurate descriptions of the world around them.

• It's common for preschoolers to struggle with color recognition, so it helps to provide resources that allow them to see that color does not change in the same way as other descriptors such as size, shape or texture do. This practice helps children isolate the true definition of "color."

• This list includes picture books with vast visual examples of colors, as well as descriptive examples of how color adjectives are used in everyday language.
